Cursor (an AI code editor) announced on May 6, 2025, that it is now free for students. Its tweet has received 1.1 million views.
Cursor's pricing originally consists of different packages:
- Hobby: The free package includes some basic functions.
- Pro: It costs $20 per month. Originally, it comes with 200 completion attempts and 50 slow advanced requests. Now, students can get a one-year membership for free by participating in the student discount activity.
- Business: It costs $40 per user per month. Based on the Pro package, it adds more enterprise-level functions, such as enforcing privacy mode within the organization, centralized team billing, administrator dashboard to view usage statistics, support for SAML/OIDC SSO, etc.
